Admissions are now open for 2025/2026
On Wednesday, 3rd February, top mathematical students from Years 8 to 11 took on the UKMT (UK Mathematics Trust) Intermediate Mathematical Challenge. This is a world-renowned challenge, aimed at students up to Year 11.
Incredibly, we had two students from Year 8 already receiving an award! Junhyun and Jinhu achieved bronze awards. Several other students were also very close.
From Year 9, a remarkable ten students received an award, including two gold! Hyeonmin and Dongha performed above expectations by achieving their gold award. Dongha also qualified for the prestigious Cayley Olympiad through such an impressive high score!
Across Years 10 and 11, there were a further 50 awards achieved, including 10 gold and 17 silver awards, far exceeding last year’s results. Regular access to problem-solving tasks, and previous challenge content, is starting to show rewards. Additionally, the maths CCA based around building these key skills, is clearly allowing students to flourish.
Junha and Younes from Year 11 will be moving on to the prestigious Maclaurin Olympiad through their extremely strong performances.
The various Olympiads will take place for our three qualifying students on Thursday, 17th March.
The British International School Abu Dhabi (BIS Abu Dhabi) was deeply honoured to welcome Her Highness Sheikha Shamma Bint Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan to its campus on Thursday, 17 April 2025. Her Highness, President & CEO of the UAE Independent Climate Change Accelerators (UICCA) and The Climate Tribe, is a distinguished entrepreneur, thought leader, and researcher with a deep commitment to sustainability, climate change, and gender equity.
At The British International School Abu Dhabi, we believe that education is not just about academic success—it’s about nurturing compassionate, responsible young people who understand the importance of giving back. This Ramadan, I have been truly moved by the way our students have embraced the spirit of the holy month, demonstrating kindness, generosity, and a genuine commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
Inspired by the latest Nord Anglia INSIGHTS article exploring why the Early Years are the most important years of a child’s education, we know that a child’s most significant learning happens during this time - in ways that are not always immediately visible.
