This week the Year 4 classes visited the site of the ancient Roman settlement of Aquincum, to launch our new topic on The Romans. As we wandered through the site of the baths, the shop fronts and the entrance to the forum, we got a feeling for how the Romans lived so many years ago. The following time in the museum, sketching Roman artefacts, the children got to make mosaics, leather pouches or wristbands, some common items used at the time. Some of the fascinating facts we learned along the way:
“46 people could go to the toilet at one time. They didn’t have separate cubicles and they used a communal sponge instead of toilet paper.” (Sophie)
“They actually lay on their sides, grabbed the food and ate.” (Sean)
“I learned that the Circus Maximus was flooded at times to have naval battles.” (Andor)

Earlier this year, we had the pleasure of participating in the Nord Anglia Snowsport Expedition in the breathtaking region of Villars-sur-Ollon, in the Swiss Alps. This was the very first year our school organised an expedition like this, so it was definitely a one-of-a-kind experience.
Our Year 2 school trip to the Children's Railway this week was a great experience. We started our journey at Hűvösvölgy and made our way up to Széchenyi-hegy.
