Year 13 DP Chemistry students are currently looking at redox reactions. They did a couple of experiments on a microscope slide to see the crystals growing under magnification.
They added copper metal to silver nitrate solution and zinc metal to silver nitrate and copper sulfate solutions. What was seen was the growth of crystals of either silver or copper metal as it was displaced from the solution by the more reactive metal that was added.
The growth of the crystals was visible in real time, and we took some photographs and a timelapse video. It was fascinating to see the reactions happen from a microscopic viewpoint.

[[\media\timelapse2.MOV]]Earlier this year, we had the pleasure of participating in the Nord Anglia Snowsport Expedition in the breathtaking region of Villars-sur-Ollon, in the Swiss Alps. This was the very first year our school organised an expedition like this, so it was definitely a one-of-a-kind experience.
Our Year 2 school trip to the Children's Railway this week was a great experience. We started our journey at Hűvösvölgy and made our way up to Széchenyi-hegy.
