Over the past week, Year 2 conducted an experiment to see the effect of different liquids on enamel. We used eggs to represent teeth as they have similar enamel. We covered 4 out of 5 of the eggs in different liquids (water, milk, orange juice and coke) to see what effect they had on the enamel of the eggs. The children made predictions about what the different liquids would do to the enamel on the eggs and then drew scientific diagrams.
After a week we looked at what the different liquids had done to our eggs. We were very surprised to see that the juice had eroded the enamel from the egg and the coke had only died the egg a different colour. We recorded the results in our science books and drew diagrams of what we had observed.
Next, we will be looking at the effect toothpaste can have to protect enamel as part of our homework.
Earlier this year, we had the pleasure of participating in the Nord Anglia Snowsport Expedition in the breathtaking region of Villars-sur-Ollon, in the Swiss Alps. This was the very first year our school organised an expedition like this, so it was definitely a one-of-a-kind experience.
Our Year 2 school trip to the Children's Railway this week was a great experience. We started our journey at Hűvösvölgy and made our way up to Széchenyi-hegy.
