Irene taught Modern Languages in different schools in Spain and the UK before coming to China to work at Qingdao Concord College of Sino-Canada. There, she started implementing the SIOP model for differentiated instruction and assessment in her lessons to cater for her students’ needs. She also led a variety of ECAs and took part in the organisation of school festivals. In 2016, she joined BISS Puxi to teach Spanish and French, and started collaborating in the Duke of Edinburgh expeditions as well as helping to organise Eco Club initiatives. In 2019, she was granted the role of Secondary Global Campus Leader to organise the Tanzania Expedition, lead activities promoting the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and support the students and colleagues involved in the Global Challenge and other Global Campus competitions.
Beyond languages and communication, Irene is passionate about literature and music, and attends all sorts of artistic and cultural events to make the most of Shanghai’s enriching environment.
The team set off to Chengdu to compete in the first NAE Multisports games since 2019. Twenty-one boys and girls, from Years 4 and 5 were looking forward to competing in a two-day tournament of athletics and football. "One of the things we valued most about BISS when deciding on Logan’s enrollment was the school’s commitment to providing equal educational opportunities to all prospective students. Initially, we worried about potential gaps between students and even felt anxious about Logan’s own shortcomings. But in the end, with the teachers’ support and encouragement, he has grown step by step with sincerity."
