After officially retiring from athletics in 2013, Marlon created a speed consultancy business working with predominately professional football and rugby players to enhance their sprint speed relative to their sport. Alongside this, he worked as a business coach for a German company sharing his knowledge and experience of what is high performance. Marlon worked across the globe in countries such as Australia, India and Singapore. Before his post at BISS, he worked with children in education; visiting schools across the UK, motivating and inspiring children to maximise their potential through PE and sport. In 2017, Marlon saw the opportunity to give back his wealth of knowledge to the students here at BISS Puxi. His role is a High Performance Coach, working with student athletes on developing the appropriate mindset that breeds success. Amongst various projects in school, Marlon leads the athletics programme to make champions in life through sport. He works with BISS students across all of the Key Stages, alongside the PE department. He has a strong desire to learn more about the mind and enjoys reading research studies in psychology and uses the Nord Anglia University resources to strengthen his knowledge further. He then likes to share his learning with the students, connecting the theory with his experience. Marlon’s position at the school is a unique one, and he is an extremely important asset to our school.
Marlon enjoys being creative, and although he hasn’t painted for some time, he exhibited his work at the Windsor Contemporary Art Fair and has sold various pieces over the years. In his free time, Marlon enjoys exploring Shanghai with his wife and young children, both of whom attend BISS.
The team set off to Chengdu to compete in the first NAE Multisports games since 2019. Twenty-one boys and girls, from Years 4 and 5 were looking forward to competing in a two-day tournament of athletics and football. For most of these students, this was their first sports tour and there was a great deal of excitement, sprinkled with a touch of nervousness.
"One of the things we valued most about BISS when deciding on Logan’s enrollment was the school’s commitment to providing equal educational opportunities to all prospective students. Initially, we worried about potential gaps between students and even felt anxious about Logan’s own shortcomings. But in the end, with the teachers’ support and encouragement, he has grown step by step with sincerity."
