All about Shapes | BSB Sanlitun - All about Shapes

The Reception children have been working on identifying 2D shapes and figuring out how to fit them with other pieces to make a finished image. They are strengthening their recognition of shape names, their attributes, and how to manipulate them to create a picture.

They have even been coming up with some of their own pictures and discovering that some shapes make a whole new shape when they are placed next to each other! They have been challenging themselves by rotating shapes so that they fit their matching shape in a puzzle.

Our Year 4 students have been experimenting with creating their own phrases using Stravinsky’s melodic fragments. They were given four short building blocks to reflect on and discuss, before they worked in pairs to assemble the melodies using the same blocks. They shared their ideas in larger teams and played them on tuned percussion before we moved on to keyboards, ensuring accuracy of pitch and rhythms.
