Dear Parents,
A Strong Start to the Final Leg!
This week, we return with the energy and focus of a sprint relay team—refreshed after a long weekend and ready for the final, decisive leg of the school year. Together, we will ensure every child finishes strong, achieving their very best this term.
Celebrating World Book Day & Beyond
Last Wednesday’s World Book Day was a highlight of our school calendar, celebrating the joy and importance of reading. A huge thank you to Mr. Beaumont for coordinating the week’s festivities, and congratulations to all the prize winners and participants who embraced the spirit of the event!
Yet, we know that World Book Day is just one moment in a much bigger journey. A love of reading begins at home—whether through bedtime stories, shared books on the bus, the MTR, or simply seeing family and friends enjoy reading. These early experiences shape our children’s attitudes toward books and learning.
At school, we build on this foundation by nurturing a passion for stories, creativity, and discovery. Our teachers guide students in decoding letters, mastering phonics, and blending sounds—skills that unlock the magic of independent reading. Over time, through steady practice at home and in the classroom, children develop not just the ability, but the joy of reading.
These foundations for reading build steadily and over time, both at school and at home. There may be times when our children are more, or less, enthusiastic about the books they have chosen. In these times, we encourage them to share their stories with us or we engage them in different genres or texts. Importantly, we want to ensure there is consistency of reading habits, both at home and at school, to motivate our children.
Reading is a team effort, and together, we can help every child find, and sustain, a lifelong passion for it. After all, we are the sum of our habits, environments, and daily choices. Let’s make those choices count.
I look forward to seeing many of you at our upcoming workshop, Parenting in the Digital Age, this Thursday. Wishing all families a wonderful week ahead.
Looking Ahead

International Dragonboat Festival
We are very proud of Mrs. Ben-Haim’s achievements as she competed in an international dragonboat competition! She travelled to the Boracay International Dragonboat Festival at the end of April with her team, Seagods. It was an honour for Mrs. Ben-Haim to be invited to the competition, and Seagods entered both a women's boat and mixed boat. The competition was fierce, as was the heat, but the women's boat, pictured, was delighted to place 4th.
The Seagods had been working hard throughout the year and being part of such a team is a rewarding experience, something that we teach the children at school. We know the team will always celebrate their progress in each race and the experiences these tournaments create are unforgettable. We win or we learn!
Well done Mrs. Ben-Haim!
Take care,
Stephen Sharma
