GCSE Art, Craft and Design students received their grades demonstrating their innovation and personal approach.
With the arrival of the Edexcel grades for the Art, Craft and Design students came the acknowledgement of a high standard of creative work. The visiting moderator had commented in June on the diverse range of media and processes used, as well as the highly personal and imaginative approach of our young artists. With a new system of grades being used for the first time we all waited with bated breath for the results. GCSE Art students are now awarded numbered grades from 9 to 1, with 9 being described as being equivalent to an ‘A*’ with a bit extra. Our visiting moderator from Edexcel explained that this grade was expected to be reserved for students “who have showed an astronomical level of skill in their work”. So congratulations are in order for Yu-Jin Ahn, who becomes our first student to be awarded a grade 9. We would also like to give a special mention to Roni Tal, who despite completing the course one year early in Year 10, was able to achieve a grade 8. A remarkable achievement. We would like to congratulate all former Year 11 GCSE Art students, who all created wonderful portfolios of work, whatever their grade may have been. (Artwork by Yu-Jin and Roni)
Eloise reflects on her experiences representing St Andrews International School at the annual Remembrance Day service hosted by the British Club in Bangkok. She expresses her deep gratitude for honouring the sacrifices of fallen soldiers and the pride she feels in continuing a family tradition while representing her school and community. Eloise emphasises the importance of this meaningful event in fostering remembrance and appreciation.
Students at St Andrews International School Bangkok have begun an exciting artificial intelligence project: integrating Nord Anglia’s “Misty the Robot” with conversational AI model, ChatGPT. Under the guidance of our Head of Robotics, Mr Rob Parker, they recently presented their results to Regional Managing Director, Mr Shaun Williams, as well as the Board of Directors at St Andrews, with the proposition of growing this project as a collaborative research venture across Nord Anglia schools.
With the goal of providing meaningful help to the flood victims in the northern regions of Thailand, our entire community at St Andrews Bangkok came together to raise funds and donations for the affected families. In the span of a few short weeks, added to donations of food and clothing, we managed to raise an astounding total of 386,676.50 THB in donation funds. To all students, teachers, parents, and staff who participated in our efforts and contributed to this cause—thank you!
