St Andrews International School Eco-Beasts were affected by bad weather, but their commitment to making the world better is as resolute as ever.
On Friday our STA Eco-Beasts, supported by Ms Helen, did a brilliant job explaining Meat Free Mondays to Y5 and a group of interested parents. Unfortunately, due to the terrible weather and traffic jams that we suffered on Friday, much fewer people were able to attend the later sessions than had shown interest.
Rather than let all of their hard work go to waste we are attaching a link to the Eco-Beast Presentation here. The children created this themselves to publicise the campaign.
We are pleased that our High School students are also very keen to be part of this initiative and that Meat Free Mondays will be supported by the whole school community.
Ms Helen explains more...
Dear Parents,
Due to bad weather on Friday we know many of you could not make it to the 'Food for Thought' event. This event was to introduce our new Meat Free Monday initiative which will help STA move forward as a greener school and significantly reduce our carbon footprint. Vegetarian food will be served for just one meal a week at lunch time on Monday, dairy will still be included in the menu. This is an international initiative with thousands of schools participating world wide (MFM website). The participating schools say it is also a great way to encourage children to try a wider variety of food.
We have attached the 'Eco Beast' club presentation which should be able to answer any questions that you have about Meat Free Monday initiative. Please also watch the video included in the presentation. Here is a direct link to the video below just in case you have trouble opening it.
We are encouraging our parents to get involved by donating some of your own delicious MFM recipes. If you would like to share a recipe then please email it to Miss Helen, [email protected], and she will share them with our catering company Epicure. We hope to have two trial Mondays, on the 17th and the 24th of June, with a view to bringing it in properly next year.
Thank you for your support.

Students at St Andrews International School Bangkok have begun an exciting artificial intelligence project: integrating Nord Anglia’s “Misty the Robot” with conversational AI model, ChatGPT. Under the guidance of our Head of Robotics, Mr Rob Parker, they recently presented their results to Regional Managing Director, Mr Shaun Williams, as well as the Board of Directors at St Andrews, with the proposition of growing this project as a collaborative research venture across Nord Anglia schools.
Senior student at St Andrews Bangkok, Pun (Year 13), devises an innovative solution for effective waste management. Recently, he completed an ambitious project: an AI-powered waste sorting system. After much research and testing, he got the system to work and put the model to use in one of our rooms at school!
Physics students from St Andrews Bangkok made quite an impression at the Beamline for Schools (BL4S) competition and won the Best Outreach Award for their brilliant work. BL4S is a prestigious global physics contest organised by CERN (the European Laboratory for Particle Physics in Geneva, Switzerland) and DESY (the German Electron Synchrotron in Hamburg, Germany), inviting High School students worldwide to propose detailed experiments to be conducted at a particle accelerator beamline. While our students did not win the main prize of conducting their experiment in Geneva, they still stood out and were recognised from an entry of over 400 teams.
