The Eco Forum – Sharing Best Practice at The British School of Tashkent

Earlier this month, The British School of Tashkent (BST) proudly hosted The Eco Forum – Sharing Best Practice, a long-anticipated event organised by the BST Eco Warriors in collaboration with the Ministry of preschool and school education of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This special forum brought together schools from across Tashkent to discuss pressing environmental issues and exchange innovative ideas for creating a more sustainable future.

The aim of the event was not only to raise awareness of ecological challenges but also to promote collaboration and shared learning among schools. Both students and teachers played an active role in presenting their school’s best environmental practices and exploring new strategies for positive change.

Throughout the day, participants from the Eco-Schools Uzbekistan Committee showcased a range of inspiring projects. Some schools presented their approaches to recycling and waste reduction, while others focused on water and energy conservation. The level of creativity, practicality, and passion demonstrated by the students was truly commendable. Many remarked that they found the event motivating and were eager to apply new ideas within their own school communities.

Teachers also valued the collaborative spirit of the day. Mr Mark, who led the event, reflected:

“It was a great opportunity to gather other local schools with the same ideas to discuss solutions to ecological matters.”

Mr Leland added:

“The organisation of the event was immaculate. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to collaborate with other schools in Tashkent and work together for a greater future.”

The event was honoured by the attendance of several distinguished guests, including:

• Mr Yakubov Xushnud, “Zamin” International Public Foundation Representative – Eco Projects Coordinator

• Ms Manzura Abduazimova, International Inclusive Hub Representative – Sign Language Interpreter

• Mr Nurmuhammadov Saidakbarxon, Representative of the Creative School named after Abdulla Kodiriy – Coordinator of Eco Schools in Tashkent

Their presence and contributions added great value to the discussions and highlighted the importance of community partnership in achieving sustainability goals.

In the afternoon, participants enjoyed a lively and engaging quiz that brought everyone together following the morning’s workshops. Congratulations to School 255 for taking first place!

The British School of Tashkent would also like to extend special gratitude to Mr Dilmurod Yuldoshev from the Ministry of Preschool and School Education, who worked closely with us as the main organiser of the forum. Although he was unable to attend in person due to travel commitments, his support and guidance were instrumental in making the event a success.

The atmosphere throughout the day was one of enthusiasm, cooperation, and shared purpose. We look forward to building on this momentum with future initiatives, including our next school project – Battle of the Batteries!
